FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

November 1, 2012 (ANNAPOLIS) — With millions of Americans still coping with the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy, many of the affected areas are under boil water alerts. The Organization for Safety, Asepsis and Prevention is stressing how imperative it is that people in those areas heed the alerts to prevent the spread of disease and infection.

"We at OSAP are deeply saddened by the destruction caused by Hurricane Sandy as it pummeled the East Coast and beyond,” said OSAP Chairman Leslie Grant DDS MSPA. "Water was and will continue to have a major impact on homes and businesses as a result of this horrible storm, and we want to reinforce the importance of following all safety procedures when it comes to boil water alerts.”

OSAP has free resources to help the dental community to ensure water used for dental treatments is safe. This resource is available at http://www.osap.org/?page=Issues_boilwater.

OSAP is also encouraging the dental community to support the American Dental Association’s relief efforts by making a donation to the ADA Foundation, attention "Hurricane Sandy Relief Efforts.” Information is available at http://www.ada.org.
