Dentists are health care workers with the highest risk of exposure to COVID-19, because the oral cavity is considered to be a reservoir for SARS-CoV-2 transmission. The identification of SARS-CoV-2 in saliva, the generation of aerosols, and the proximity to patients during dental procedures are conditions that have led to these health care workers implementing additional disinfection strategies for their protection. Oral antiseptics are widely used chemical substances due to their ability to reduce the number of microorganisms. Read more.

The advisory provides clarification on the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), patient placement, waste management, health care worker (HCW) exposure to monkey pox, and the duration of precautions required when caring for a patient with monkeypox. Early detection of dental caries in children is necessary to provide adequate treatments and preventative measures. Recent development and advancement in teledentistry allow clinicians to perform screening for caries remotely and may allow broader access to care. This study evaluated the accuracy of non-dental (photographs taken by a teacher using a smartphone) and dental teledentistry (photographs taken by a dentist using a smartphone) in diagnosing caries by comparing it with the clinical examination in 120 children aged 5 to 10 years.
